COVID-19 update - Kennel Club Breeder Club - 25 April 2020

During the outbreak of COVID-19, we’re here to support you. This blog will be updated over the coming weeks with any new information.

Kennel Club Pet Insurance continues to operate at full capacity, while observing all advice from the UK government. So, during this period of coronavirus outbreak, all our services are open and continue as normal, including our phone lines and online services. We’ll keep you updated if anything changes.

The latest advice on COVID-19 is available here:

For members of our Breeder Club, this means that when social distancing allows, policies can be activated as usual, so when you're next able to activate cover, please continue to do so to ensure pets remain covered by insurance.

If you have a puppy and their vaccinations or microchip implantation have been delayed because some routine veterinary treatments have been restricted, they must stay in until they have had a full vaccination course and are microchipped. Please contact your vet in the case of any delays for guidance and see our owner blog for our full vaccination guide.

Additional help from Kennel Club Pet Insurance

Cover for pets that have missed vaccinations

During the coronavirus outbreak, dogs insured with a Kennel Club Pet Insurance policy will be covered for any illnesses caused by problems with access to vaccinations – providing the owner has contacted their vet for advice and followed the advice given. This includes puppies covered with free Kennel Club Pet Insurance policies.

Pet Health Helpline

Full policyholders and members of the Kennel Club Pet Insurance Breeder Club have access to the Pet Health Helpline, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is ideal now that veterinary practices are operating a reduced face-to-face service, providing emergency care only. It’s completely free of charge and puts owners straight in contact with a veterinary-trained professional for advice over their pet’s health.

Boarding fees cover

Owners continuing their free policy to lifetime Kennel Club Pet Insurance cover have the option of adding Boarding Fees benefit. This will cover the cost of the insured pet to stay a licensed boarding kennel or cattery, or pay towards someone to look after them, should the owner be hospitalised.

If you have any concerns or queries during this time regarding our policies, activation or anything else, please get in touch with your usual Kennel Club Breeder contact who will be able to help.
